It is said that volunteer activities can foster enormous leadership skills and that the non professional volunteer world is a laboratory of self realization. The Hermon Marthoma Church Youth Fellowship has been focused since inception on broadening the spiritual horizons of its budding youth members by introducing them to voluntarism for a spectrum of great causes.
Ten members of the Hermon Marthoma Church Youth Fellowship accompanied by our Vicar Rev Sam Abraham took park in “The 2007 Zoo Atlanta GREAT STRIDES WALK” on May 5, 2007. This was a 5K walk organized to increase awareness and raise funds for finding cure for Cystic Fibrosis. After talking part in the walk, the youth members also got the chance to manage some stalls as well as the cleaning operations in the food tents. Needless to say, it was a unique opportunity for the youth members and they relished every moment of the event. The participants came back with a rich experience. As a church we plan to organize more such “value adding” trips in the coming months.
